Water for the locals
This artificial lake was originally designed and built to supply the town of Cholet with drinking water.
It is supplied by the river, the Moine, and provides enough water for the growing needs of the Cholet population.
A plant was also installed on site to automate the water treatment process over the years. Due to excessive demand, especially in summer, and the modification of the environment, the lake experienced a decline in biodiversity.
A water sports centre for everyone
A few years ago, the municipality of Cholet decided to install a leisure centre on the lake.
Access is free all year round, but it is much more pleasant when the weather is fine.
